And now I've read (honestly, mostly skimmed) Voyage, Orestes!. I don't
like it as much, I think mostly of interest to Delany completists. But
that probably describes almost everybody on this list, there are definitely
characters who will feel familiar. It'll probably remind you in some ways
of Dhalgren, without the post-apocalyptic aspects. (And, just to be clear,
it's just a fragment of the novel.)
