Vernor Vinge's Rainbows End won the Hugo Award for best novel, one of 
the winners of this year's Hugos announced this weekend at the 65th 
World Science Fiction Convention, in Yokohama, Japan.

The Hugo Award, also known as the Science Fiction Achievement Award, is 
given annually by the World Science Fiction Society. The award was named 
in honor of Hugo Gernsback, the founder of Amazing Stories, the first 
magazine devoted entirely to science fiction.
