Re: Hugo Controversy - other side

I don't recall any messages on the list related to the uproar, but that
might just be me.

I have no brief one way or the other about Correia's writing since I don't
recall reading any of his stuff.

That being said, if the uproar is even *close* to his version, this is a
rather appalling situation. And I am a certifiable lefty pinko. Writers and
artists need to be judged on their work, not their politics. I enjoy
Wagner. I admire as actors Gary Sinese, Tom Selleck, and Gary Oldman even
though they are conservatives. I detested Charlatan Heston not because of
his politics but because I found him pompous and boring as an actor. I'm
old enough to remember that Heinlein caught some unjustified grief because
of his stance over the Vietnam war. I enjoy some of David Weber's writing
even though I suspect I would find his politics appalling.

Anyway, point made. *Some* conservatives are whackos who should be roundly
castigated- that Duck Dynasty nutter comes to mind. But for goodness sakes,
folks, you cannot put everybody who doesn't agree with you in the pond scum
of the universe box and heap scorn upon their writing. If the writing is
crap, that's another matter.
