Brave New World - the movie.

I recently bought a copy of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World (which  i have
never read) and I have encountered a puzzle. Most of what I know of the
book comes from having seen a movie version when I was in high school, and
checking Wikipedia i found that the earliest movie version was released in
1980:

But there is a problem. This movie was made by NBC and released on 7th
March 1980. The movie I saw was broadcast on Australian TV in two parts, on
10th and 12th July - but in 1979, not 1980. I am quite certain about those
dates, having checked my diary from that year.

So - does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Neither Wikipedia nor
IMDB list a Brave New World movie before 1980. Did the movie have an an
early release, or was there an earlier movie that IMDB doesn't know about?
