Re: FW: 10 Ultra-Weird Science Fiction Novels that Became Required Reading

In the 60s and early 70s it seems there were a lot of stories that
traded on the notion of non-trad meds and stuff. "Lone scientist
discovers cure for cancer but has to work in secret lest the running
dogs of Big Pharme come along and punish him," sort of thing. Some of
it was truly as weird as anything in this list, like a story of old
crones using the beat of rock and roll to turn themselves young and
seduce the hero and his friends. It wasn't quite clear to me in that
story why the old women were the bad guys, when it was the young man
who was being a dick for a roll in the hay... (Sorry, no memory of
title or author - you can tell what stuff I remember.)
