The Old Nicosia Polaroid Photowalk took place on 31 March 2018 in 
Nicosia as part of the Cyprus Community Media Research Programme (CCMRP).

Seeking to translate academic insights and the rationale of CCMRP 
research focusing on participation, community media and conflict 
transformation, the Old Nicosia Polaroid Photowalk provided a platform 
for a diverse group of participants to collaborate, and engage in 
dialogue and co-decision making while producing community media outputs.

This project translates some of the key results of Derya Yüksek’s 
earlier CCMRP research on the principles of community media production 
and conflict transformation. Her work emphasized the importance of 
decentralized power relations & equality, agency & independence, and 
diversity & pluralism.

Two online exhibitions were created by Orestis Tringides and Hazal Yolga 
on the basis of this project, translating its basic outcomes.

The first gallery hosts some of the photos taken by the participants, 
during the guided-walking tour around the old town and were hosted at 
the pop-up exhibition of Polaroid photos afterwards. This can be found here:
