Best wishes, Clare Lecturer in Women’s Studies University of York – Centre for Women’s Studies Location: York Salary Range: £38,832 - £47,722 a year Hours: Full-time Ref Number: 6853 Contract Type: Fixed-term Closing date: 29 July 2018 The Centre for Women’s Studies (CWS), affiliated to the Departments of English and Related Literature and Sociology at the University of York, and one of the UK’s leading postgraduate centres for feminist research and teaching, seeks to appoint an outstanding member of academic staff. You will be based in CWS and will undertake research of the highest international standards, making a major contribution to the research standing and culture of CWS and the Departments. You will also play a full part in teaching, research supervision, and administration in the Centre, including the development of new modules. You will have a PhD in Women’s /Gender Studies, or in a relevant area, and a proven track record of publications in leading journals and/or in monograph form. It is desirable that you have demonstrated an ability to win grant funding. We seek to appoint someone who has expertise in feminist cultural studies. Those with interests in and knowledge of digital cultures, cultural activism, masculinities, genders and sexualities are encouraged to apply, although other areas of cultural expertise are not excluded from consideration. We particularly welcome applicants who have research and/or teaching expertise in a variety of global contexts, or clear evidence of being able to extend their primary focus. Previous experience of teaching at postgraduate level and of PhD supervision are essential. This post is full-time and available on a fixed term basis for a period of three years with effect from 1 September 2018.
