Dear Colleagues, I am in Toronto for the summer conducting interviews with music-makers on the communal aspects of music-making. Recruitment email is below. If relevant, I would be grateful if you could forward to your networks. Thank you for your consideration. Best, Athena Hello! My name is Athena Elafros. I am a faculty member in the Sociology Department at the University of Lethbridge studying the communal aspects of music-making. I am inviting music-makers in Toronto to participate in a study on the social elements of music-making. I am particularly interested in the importance of family, friends, peers, co-workers, significant others, etc. in the musical process. Ideally, I will also interview people that you identify as important to your creative process (with their consent). The goal is to get a better understanding of the importance of social networks in musical creativity. Participation is voluntary. You will be provided with the option to either identify yourself or remain anonymous. There are no anticipated risks to taking part in this survey and you can stop at any time. Interviews would last 1 hour and can take place in person, over the phone, or through Skype. If you have questions about the study or are interested in the findings, you may contact me at [email protected] or 403-329-5147. You may also contact the Office of Research Ethics at the University of Lethbridge at [email protected] or 403-329-2747 if you have questions about your rights as a participant. This research has been reviewed for ethical acceptability and approved by the University of Lethbridge Human Subject Research Committee. If you would be interested in completing the survey, or require further information, please contact me via email [email protected] or phone 403-329-5147. Thank you in advance for your participation.
