Hi Paul,

I run a module on gender studies that does something similar, though not
precisely. I'm including some of the potentially relevant open source
reading materials we use for class discussion below in case they were to be
of interest as well as the broad frames of our analysis. I'm happy to
clarify further if needed:
1) Racism/ Embodiment/ Art/ Consumption:
https://www.thepolisproject.com/misogyny-and-racism-as-spectacle-and-perfor=
mance-a-critique-of-mahesh-shantarams-the-african-portraits-and-forbidden-l=
ove/
2) Medicalisation of bodies/ racism/ arbitrary markers of biology/
deconstructing biological essentialism in gender and sex:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/athletics/2019/05/01/caster-semenya-testosteron=
e-verdict-ignites-debate-fairness/
(cross reference Dutee Chand and Serena Williams) [link back and forward
with: https://www.jstor.org/stable/23215203]
3) Race/ Disability/ Sex/ deconstruction of ideas of "normalcy": Sami
Schalk, *Bodyminds Reimagined*. [not open source but we have access to the
book and augment with the podcasts here: https://samischalk.com/bodyminds/]
4) Discussion of images used to frame narratives of the refugee crisis
[identity vs embodiment/ reduction to the body/ racism/ imperialism]:
https://thebrownhijabi.com/2015/08/20/why-are-we-calling-it-a-migrant-crisi=

5) Discussion of prison abolition and ideas of space/ humanity/ basic
rights/ who is made illegal/ who is made "unsafe":
https://afropunk.com/2019/01/prison-reform-isnt-anti-racist-prison-abolitio=
n-is/
6) Casteism/ access to law and justice/ violence/:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3D_jClj177b7k (video) and
http://sanhati.com/articles/15546/ (text)
7) Technology/ Gender/ Politics of Shame: Nishant Shah, 'The Selfie and the
Slut'

ie-and-slut.html
or

8) The politics of being "seen" at all/ gender/ identity/ politics/
recognition as political being/ community as support: Sara Ahmed, Complaint
as feminist praxis:
