SAH Announces 2016 SAH/Mellon Author Award Winners
SAH has named Peter Christensen, Itohan I. Osayimese and Robin Schuldenfrei
as the recipients of the 2016 SAH/Mellon Author Awards. These awards are
designed to provide financial relief to scholars who are publishing their
first monograph on the history of the built environment, and who are
responsible for paying for rights and permissions for images or for
commissioning maps, charts or line drawings in their publications.

SAH's American Architecture and Landscape Field Trip Program Makes a Grant
to I-NOMA
In July 2016 SAH awarded the Illinois Chapter of the National Organization
of Minority Architects (I-NOMA) a $5,000 grant to support their Project
Pipeline Architecture Summer Camp for Chicagoland students in the sixth
through eighth grades. The mission of the annual camp is "to empower young
people to affect change in their community through design."

MAS Context, in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago and
the Society of Architectural Historians, is pleased to present the screening
of the film Unfinished Spaces. The screening is part of MAS Context's 2016

Highlights from SAHARA: Institutions of Learning
As many of us begin our busy fall season at universities, colleges, archives
and libraries, and our children head back to school, we would like to
highlight the diverse images of buildings related to education in SAHARA.
The collection includes new and old architecture, re-purposed buildings, and
buildings in ruin, from rural to urban settings.

SAH Chapter and Partner News
Society of Historians of East European, Eurasian, and Russian Art and
Architecture SHERA welcomes two new institutional members, New York-based
foundation St. Petersburg Arts Project, Inc. and The Getty Research
Institute. This summer, SHERA received a donation to establish the Maya
Semina Graduate Student Travel Grant. The procedure for selecting a grantee
will be elaborated on November 18 during the SHERA membership meeting at the
2016 ASEEES Annual Convention in Washington, D.C.
Current SAH Opportunities
Study Program Fellowship: Open to current full-time MA and PhD students and
emerging professionals, this fellowship is offered for the Louis Kahn in San
Diego and La Jolla Study Day and covers the single occupancy price of the
tour package. Deadline September 30.
H. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellowship: $50,000 fellowship that allows a
recent graduate or emerging scholar to study by travel for one year.
Deadline October 3.
HABS-SAH Sally Kress Tompkins Fellowship: Permits a graduate student in
architectural history or a related field to work on a 12-week HABS history
project during the summer of 2017. Deadline December 31.
