We hope to see many of you at the 2010 New York Antiquarian Book Fair at the
Park Avenue Armory in New York City. This year is the fair's 50th
anniversary.


The dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 9, 10 and 11. The preview
is Thursday, April 8 from 5 - 9 p.m.



We are in booth # E-9, where we will exhibit many new and exciting items
from our inventory of Russian and Soviet art/photo related books,
publications and graphics.

ORIGINAL PUBLICATIONS FROM 0,10 - THE LAST FUTURIST EXHIBITION 

 


Kazimir Malevich introduced Suprematism and Vladimir Tatlin displayed his
counter reliefs in December, 1915 at 0,10, The Last Futurist Exhibition of
Paintings, at the Dobychina 
Gallery in Petrograd. Organized by Ivan Puni, Tatlin and Malevich were at
the head of opposing factions - - both radical and innovative - - and thus
the 0,10 Exhibition was divided into two separate sections.

pieces of explanatory literature were available to the public: The catalog
of the entire exhibition, The Last Futurist Exhibition. 0,10 [left], an
illustrated booklet of Tatlin's reliefs and counter-reliefs [below right], a
one page statement by Puni and Boguslavskaia, short statements all on one
page by Malevich, Kliun and Men'kov and Malevich's manifesto From Cubism and
Futurism to Suprematism: The New Realism in Painting [below left].

The Suprematist works revealed by Malevich and the counter-reliefs shown by
Tatlin made the exhibition a landmark in the history of early modern art.

possibilities and ramifications are still being explored and debated today
throughout the world.

A group of eight (8) original caramel wrappers titled "New Measures" [Novye
mery] by Vladimir Mayakovsky, circa 1923.



These caramel treats were manufactured for Mosselprom by the factory Red
October in Moscow. 



In Soviet Russia of the 1920s, the candy wrapper became a miniature form of
mass agitational art and propaganda, in this case showing modern forms of
measurements put in place by the Bolsheviks after the Revolution.
