Dear Colleagues,

We are looking for panelists to participate in a panel on Russian and  
Soviet book illustration for the upcoming CAS conference in  
Fredericton. Please reply directly to Megan Swift ([email protected])and  
Tim Ormond ([email protected])

Russian and Soviet Illustration

This panel considers the relationship between illustration and classic
Russian and Soviet literature. Topics may include, but are not limited to:

-        A period or school in Russian or Soviet illustration
-        A specific artist?s body of illustration work
-        Consider how different illustrators have interpreted the same novel
-        Book and magazine illustration and Soviet propaganda
-        Illustration and Russian and Soviet mass culture
-        Illustration and literacy
-        Relationships between illustration and Russian and Soviet painting,
graphic arts photography and cinema
-        Illustration as literary interpretation
-        Illustration and censorship
