The Research Center “Humanities, Modernity, Globalization” at Jacobs University Bremen invites applications for a PhD grant in Art History Topics of research include the history and theory of 20th-century art; a focus on artist networks, abstract art, or intercultural aspects is particularly welcome. The successful applicant will pursue a dissertation project on a selected topic of 20th-century art history in the Intercultural Humanities Graduate Program at Jacobs University and be expected to also participate in collaborative research, assist in project management, fund raising, and third-party funding applications, and contribute to the organization of conferences and educational programs. The successful applicant will hold a Masters degree or equivalent in art history or a related field. S/he will be responsible, self-motivated, and enjoy working in an international academic environment. In addition to excellent writing and presentation skills, organization and management skills and experience in project management are essential. Fluency in English and German and good working knowledge of a third language is expected. The PhD grant amounts to 800.- Euros per month for a period of 12 months (the grant is tax free). Renewal is possible. The anticipated starting date is February 1, 2013.
