Dear SHERA Members,

At the recent planning meeting in New Orleans, it was decided to revitalize
the Society of Historians of East European, Eurasian, and Russian Art and
Architecture (SHERA). After adopting the more inclusive name, our next step
is to elect a governing council of the following leadership positions:

+President (3 years) (function: serve as VP; President; Past-President;
first President will serve for 2 years)

+Vice President/President-Elect (1 year) (function: conferences and
meetings coordinator; backup scribe to Secretary/Treasurer; later serve as
President and Past-President)

+Secretary/Treasurer (2 years) (function: membership, follow the PayPal
account as Treasurer, official scribe at meetings)

+Website Manager/Webmaster (2 years) (function: update and maintain
website, coordinate with list-serv manager; create, maintain and implement
social media outlets for the society)

All are heartily encouraged to participate, including graduate students and
overseas members. Please email nominations or self-nominations to Yelena
Kalinsky ([email protected]) by December 15. Voting will take place
between December 15 and January 1, and we should have a governing council
in place well in time for the annual College Art Association meeting in
February. Below, you will find SHERA's current mission statement.

SHERA is an association of academics, librarians, museum workers,
independent scholars, students, and other individuals who share an interest
in the art and visual culture of Russia, the nations of the former Soviet
Union, and Central and Eastern Europe. The Society seeks to improve
research circumstances for scholars, connect members to necessary
resources, provide a forum for ongoing conversations on areas of mutual
interest, and foster contacts among members. SHERA runs a Web site and
electronic listserv, and organizes sessions at scholarly conferences such
as CAA and ASEEES.

Best wishes,

Yelena Kalinsky
