State Institute of Art Studies (SIAS) in Moscow is to be closed: please sign a petition againt!

Dear Shera members,

As you might have already heard, the State Institute of Art Studies
(Gosudarstvennyi Institut Iskusstvoznania) in Moscow is about to be closed
because of "inefficiency" (whatever this might mean in the russian
bureaucrats' slang) [the real reason for it being the building, very central
in moscow, that it occupies]. Over a hundred (maybe more) art historians
will lose their jobs; the major place for art history research in the
country will cease to exist. Please sign this petition-it will at least
demonstrate that the professional community, including the scholars outside
of the country, knows and cares about the institute.
