Maria Zavialova and Alla Rosenfeld to speak in memory of Oleg Vassiliev at Amherst College on April 6

On Saturday, April 6, at 1:30 p.m. Amherst College's Mead Art Museum will host a gallery talk and slide lecture in memory of Russian émigré artist Oleg Vassiliev (1931-2013). Dr. Maria Zavialova, the curator at The Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis, will give a gallery talk about Vassiliev's print series The House with the Mezzanine, the first half of which is currently on view at the Mead in the Art for All exhibition. Dr. Alla Rosenfeld, an internationally renowned scholar in the field of Russian art, will deliver a slide lecture, elaborating on the complex relationship between nonconformist art and its sociopolitical environment in the Soviet Union.
