Dear Ileana What an interesting project. My experience is limited to Romania, and a great friend there was the poet Marin Sorescu. During the late 1980s he was under house arrest for a period of more than a year and he started to paint - rather cheerful subjects often involving free-flying chickens. I arranged an exhibition of his work here in Ireland during the early 1990s, and he was very amused when the Romanian Artists' union cleared the work for export with the designation that it was of 'no artistic value'.
