75th Anniversary Open House at Charnley-Persky House
SAH invites you to take a free tour of its headquarters, the Charnley-Persky
House on July 31. Be our guest as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of SAH,
founded on July 31, 1940, at Harvard University. Tour the National Historic
Landmark house, designed by Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, enjoy
cookies and lemonade and enter for a chance to win prizes.

2016 SAH International Travel Grant Program
SAH will award between 14 and 16 grants to professionals who work with the
history of the built environment to attend the SAH 2016 Annual International
Conference in Pasadena/Los Angeles, CA, April 6-10. The grants are reserved
for professionals from countries that have traditionally been
underrepresented at the SAH conference. Generously funded by the Getty
Foundation, these grants will allow recipients to participate in the
conference and build upon their professional network. Applications are being
accepted through August 31, 2015.

Save the Date: 2015 SAH Awards Gala
Mark your calendars! The 2015 SAH Awards Gala, Celebrating Our Past,
Building Our Future, will take place on Friday, November 6, at the Woman's
Athletic Club in Chicago. SAH will present Awards for Excellence to Paul
Goldberger, T. Gunny Harboe, FAIA, and Richard Longstreth. Gala proceeds
benefit the Society's educational mission.

Request for Meeting Rooms
SAH is accepting formal proposals for additional programming for the SAH
2016 Annual International Conference to be held in Pasadena/Los Angeles,
April 6-10. This is a new process designed to ensure that proposals are
received in a timely manner and selected programs are incorporated into the
conference schedule before it is announced.

JSAH Moves to New Publishing Platform, HighWire
SAH would like to announce that its JSAH publishing partner, University of
California Press, has moved their suite of online journals, including JSAH
Online, to a new publishing platform, HighWire Open Platform from Stanford
University's HighWirePress.

SAH Welcomes New Program Coordinator
Chris Higgins joins SAH as the new program coordinator. He previously worked
in the Office of Service-Learning at Eckerd College in Florida and holds an
B.A. in international relations. His responsibilities at SAH include
managing databases related to the Society's awards, fellowships, conference
and study programs, and working with Director of Programs Kathy Sturm in
planning and implementing educational programs. Higgins replaces Beth
Eifrig, who recently took over as SAH comptroller.

 


Miller House and Garden Archive
A new online archival collection for the Miller House and Garden, one of the
nation's most highly regarded mid-century Modernist residences has just been
released. The Miller House was designed by Eero Saarinen, with interiors by
Alexander Girard and landscape design by Daniel Urban Kiley. This digital
collection spans 50 years and contains 17,699 downloadable images, including
architectural drawings, material samples, photographs and administrative
documents re! lated to the history of the property. The 3-year digitization
project was made possible by a $190,000 grant from the National Endowment
for the Humanities awarded to the Museum in May 2012. Read the press

SAH Chapter and Partner News
Society of Historians of East European, Eurasian and Russian Art and
Architecture, Inc. (SHERA) was granted tax-exempt status under Internal
Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3) on April 2, 2015. As a public charity,
all contributions and donations to SHERA can be deducted from taxes under
IRC Section 170. SHERA is also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests,
transfers or gifts under various sections of the Code, such as 2055, 2106 or
2522.

 

 	

 

The Southeast Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians (SESAH)
invites you to attend our 2015 annual conference, which will be held in San
Antonio, Texas on October 14-17. Registration information may be found on
