Dear Colleagues: Yesterday, I wrote a letter on behalf of our members to Bakhodir Akhmedov, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, demanding investigation of dismissal of Marinika Babanazarova, the director of the Nukus Museum of Art. I am attaching the letter and its translation herewith. Today, Nicoletta Misler launched a petition in support of the cause, which I urge you to sign and disseminate widely. This matter is important, because, apart from the injustice of firing a respected director on groundless charges, a unique museum of avant-garde art is in danger of closure. http://tinyurl.com/pqfa52u Thank you for your support.
