SAH 2016 Conference Registration Opens December 8
Early registration for the SAH 2016 Annual International Conference in
Pasadena/Los Angeles, California (April 6-10) will open on Tuesday, December
8, at 3 pm CT. Register early for the lowest rates and first choice of tours
and special events. Early registration will close on February 3, 2016.

Recap of SAH 75th Anniversary Reception at Harvard
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of SAH's founding at the Harvard Faculty
Club on July 31, 1940, SAH held a celebratory reception at the Frances Loeb
Library at the Harvard GSD on October 28, 2015. Through the generosity of
Ann Whiteside, Librarian/Assistant Dean for Information Services at the Loeb
Library, and several donors, more than fifty SAH and SAH New England Chapter
members joined SAH President Ken Breisch and SAH Director Pauline Saliga for
reminiscences about the Society.

Call for Nominations to the JSAH Editorial Advisory Committee
SAH invites nominations and self-nominations for two individuals to serve on
the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians Editorial Advisory
Committee for a term of four years starting April 15, 2016. The Journal
features leading scholarship in the English language in all aspects of the
history of the built environment. Ideal candidates have published
substantially in the field and may come from any of the Society's
constituencies in academia, preservation, museum work, or independent
scholarship; institutional affiliation is not required. Deadline January 15,
2016.

NEH Announces New Next Generation Humanities PhD Grant Program
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) recently announced a new
grant program designed to inspire innovative models of doctoral education in
the humanities that incorporate broader career preparation for PhD
candidates. NEH Next Generation Humanities PhD grants seek to address the
disparities between graduate student expectations for a career in academia
and eventual career outcomes and to promote greater integration of the
humanities in the public sphere. These grants will allow colleges and
universities to plan for major changes to PhD programs and then implement
programmatic initiatives that will transform understanding of what it means
to be a humanities scholar. Read More

members, including graduate students and independent scholars,
representatives of SAH chapters, and partner organizations, to submit a
session proposal for the 2017 conference in Glasgow, Scotland, June 7-11.

SAH Chapter and Partner News
The Marion Dean Ross/Pacific Northwest Chapter now has another archival
home, the University of Oregon's digital repository, Scholars' Bank.
Scholars' Bank is not just another online resource which duplicates print
materials: It is a unique, expanding archive with digital content featuring
members' publications, conference presentations, and reports of chapter

The New England Chapter of SAH invites applications for The John Coolidge
Research Fellowship and The Robert Rettig Student Annual Meeting Fellowship.
The Coolidge Research Fellowship assists graduate students at a New England
college or university working on topics in architectural history or a
related field through an award of $500-$1,000. The Rettig Student Annual
Meeting Fellowship helps graduate students or emerging professionals attend
the SAH 2016 Annual International Conference in Pasadena/Los Angeles, CA.
The deadline to apply is December 22. Visit nesah.org.
             
Highlights of SESAH's annual conference in San Antonio include paper
sessions, tours of the missions, and the annual awards presentation. Authors
honored were Carrie Dilley for Thatched Roofs and Open Sides, Richard
Longstreth for "The Continuous Transformation of Savannah's Broughton
Street," and Andrew Sandoval-Strausz for "Latino Landscapes," Journal of
American History. Belinda Stewart Architects received the 2015 Best of the
South preservation award for their restoration of the Tallahatchie County
Courthouse.
             
Docomomo US is pleased to announce registration for the educational travel
