*Collecting Prints, Posters and Ephemera: Perspectives in a Global World*

Call for articles by Scholars of East Europe



The editors of the volume *Collecting Prints, Posters and Ephemera:
Perspectives in a Global World, *Ruth E. Iskin and Britany Salsbury, are
seeking contributions from scholars of East Europe. The volume will have a
wide geographical and cultural scope on collectors and collecting from the
nineteenth through the twenty-first centuries. Of special interest are
articles on collectors and collecting in East Europe, contextualized within
their nations or regions, and comparative studies of collecting East
European materials in the West and in East Europe; also of interest are
collecting and collectors in the West.  Among the issues to be addressed
are private and institutional collecting and the relationship between them;
the history of particular collections; curatorial perspectives on
collecting and displaying exhibitions from the collections; collections of
prints, posters and ephemera within museums, archives, and libraries;
national, regional, and international focus in collecting; issues of
politics and geopolitics in collecting; the art market and modes of
collecting prints, posters and ephemera, historically and today.
Interdisciplinary approaches that integrate art history, social history,
cultural history and other disciplines are welcome.

            If you would like to have an article considered for the volume,
please submit the title, abstract, and a brief biographical description
(70-100 words), including affiliation, publications, special honors,
grants, etc., and a brief CV. Each abstract should be a summary of, rather
than an introduction to the article, comprising no more than 70–100 words.
It should detail the main argument and findings of the article in clear and
unambiguous terms and explain why a person should read it. Articles will be
a maximum of 6000 words and the number of illustrations will be determined
later on, but it is likely to be about 3-4 black and white illustrations
per article.

We ask that you let us know by August 31 if you would like to contribute,
and that you send your title, abstract, and brief biography by September 30
to both editors: [email protected] and [email protected].
