Call for Papers: Adaptation: Film, Literature, Culture

33rd Annual Southwest/Texas Popular Culture Associations Conference
February 8-11, 2012

Proposal submission deadline: December 1, 2011

Join us this year, as a returning or first-time participant, in the  
Film Adaptation Area, a long-standing, well-represented area with  
outstanding past presentations.

The Adaptation Area this year encompasses traditional approaches to  
film adaptation, including
 Adaptation theory
 Novel to film adaptation
 Genre adaptation (homage, parody, etc)
 Stage to screen adaptation (excluding Shakespeare)
 Video games, songs, cartoons, graphic novels and comic books to  
film adaptation

as well as a broader interpretation of the term adaptation, including  
films which translate culture into cinema through adaptations of
 The American West
 Political or religious ideology
 History
 Biography
 Race, gender, sexuality
