There, as they become acquainted, we see Susan reflected in the mirror on her dresser. Aside from the inventiveness of revealing her through a reflection, this is the first visual evidence of the snowglobe, which is on Susan's dresser. This connects her to the nostalgia of his youth by evoking a memory of his primal scene. In _The Jazz Singer_, Jackie Robin struggles with his allegiances to the musical theater and to his religious upbringing in a melancholy scene in his dressing room. In the Disney short "Thru the Mirror" (1936) Mickey Mouse steps through a mirror into a surreal world. In both the 2002 Hong Kong film The Eye and its 2008 American remake, the blind heroine who has received an eye transplant does not realize that the face she sees in her mirror is actually that of the woman whose eyes she now has.
