Why not just call it the way you do, namely musical performances in film?
You would have to be more specific as to the films and the performances
therein. Musical biopics often have this structure and are reflexive in so
far that the musical numbers often comment on or mirror narrative events,
i.e. the pure performance numbers are diegeticized. In some cases, you
might be dealing with a sort of play-within-a-play kind of situation, like
mise-en-abîme. But I'm not sure that's what you are getting at. In other
instances, the musical numbers may have a sort of 'pillow' function
separating different sequences.
