From: Feeley, Kathleen <[email protected]> There are many options. The three I am most familiar with are: Lames Lorence, Screening America covers the twentieth century and is brief and concise. I use this in my U.S. history and film class because I use a whole host of other readings. Mintz and Roberts' Hollywood's America covers more films and would be a more comprehensive textbook. There's also Thompson and Bordwell's Film History. Your choice of text will also depend upon the film's you want to/are willing to cover and what's covered in the various texts though there is some overlap...
