From: Mattias Frey <[email protected]> The Centre for the Interdisciplinary Study of Film and the Moving Image presents a Symposium on: Cultural Criticism in the Digital Age: Media, Purposes, and the Status of the Critic 7 June 2012, Marlowe Lecture Theatre 2, University of Kent The aims and status of arts and culture criticism are under attack, whether judging by the number of critics losing their jobs at newspapers, magazines and other ‘old media’, or by the proliferation of academic monographs bemoaning The Crisis of Criticism and mourning The Death of the Critic. This symposium offers the views from critics and academics from various fields, offering historical case studies and inquiring into the role of critics today.
