From: Larry Howe <[email protected]> I'm no _Lone Ranger_ expert, but my childhood includes regular viewing of this and other westerns. I would be surprised if there were any black characters. They are largely absent from American television except in marginal roles as domestic servants--Jack Benny's servant Rochester, for example. TV Westerns of that era especially exclude black characters; the racial other of that genre are almost always Indians, and rarely Chinese servants like Hop Sing in _Bonanza_. --Larry Howe --------- From: "Paul Schulte" <[email protected]> Think there are the same number of black figures as there were on Midsommer Murders.
