*From: *"Michael Fitzgerald" <[email protected]> Can anyone help me out here? According to an account I read--for what it's worth--James Stewart was "attached" to the film Broken Arrow before Daves was selected to direct. Stewart had some reservations about Daves since Daves had never directed a western. So Stewart invited Ford to come to the set and make some suggestions, which Daves used. That's how I remember it. I forgot to note the source of this account, and now I can't find it. Does anyone recall reading anything like this? No telling if there is any truth to this account, but it doesn't seem too far-fetched. Broken Arrow was filmed at Iverson Ranch and in Sedona, Ariz., which is not terribly far from Hollywood. I checked Daves' filmography and it does appear he had never made a western before BA. Thanks again, Michael Ray Fitzgerald www.michaelrayfitzgerald.com
