Vietnam War-era Southern Horror Films and TV Shows

Many of you may remember my inquiry earlier this year, but for those who don’t, my name is Olivia Hopkins and I am in my first year of a PhD in English Literature at the University of Sydney, completing my thesis on American Horror Film and the South. I have now decided to expand the parameters of my project, so I am looking for suggestions of any American horror films or television shows from the Vietnam War era (1955-75) that either are set in the South or have significant Southern characters in them. I am particularly interested in films that deal in depth with racial issues, hoodoo/voodoo or Christianity or that have been remade in recent years. My current list is as follows: - The Night of the Hunter (1955) - The Alligator People (1959) - The Twilight Zone (TV; 1959) – suggestions of specific episodes would be appreciated - Boris Karloff’s Thriller (TV; 1960) – suggestions of specific episodes would be appreciated - Cape Fear (1962) - Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte (1964) - Death Curse of Tartu (1966) - Night Gallery (TV; 1969) – suggestions of specific episodes would be appreciated - The Beguiled (1971) - Straw Dogs (1971) - Asylum of Satan (1972) - Deliverance (1972) - Frogs (1972) - Who Fears the Devil, a.k.a. The Legend of Hillbilly John (1972) - The Legend of Boggy Creek (1973) - Three on a Meathook (1973) - Thriller (TV; 1973)– suggestions of specific episodes would be appreciated - Abby (1974) - Kolchak: The Night Stalker (TV; 1974) – suggestions of specific episodes would be appreciated - Sugar Hill (1974) - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) Also, suggestions of specific episodes that are Southern-set or have significant Southern characters from the following TV shows would be appreciated.
