look for the episode "Pigeons from Hell" which is a fairly faithful version of 
the Texan Robert E. Howard's story of the same title.  Touches on race 
relations, voodoo, zombies in Creole Louisiana.

With regards to Boris Karloff's THRILLER, the episode "Pigeons from Hell" is definitely in the Southern Gothic traditions.  You may also want to check out the episode titled "Parasite Mansion."

A great list that brings back memories. How about "The Outer Limits" TV series, not sure of the years it ran. Of the films back then there was "The Angry Red Planet"; the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still"; and "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers".
