Not to a theatrical audience - I've only played around with
this technology at home.

There are, however, a couple of gotchas. The
projector must have native 1080p resolution or better, and you will
probably get serious ghosting on projectors that consist of a single
chip DLP plus a colour filter wheel (basically, 21st century
Kinemacolor!), which is the imaging technology used in most mid-range
(i.e. higher spec than projectors intended for home and small classroom
use, but lower spec than a full scale d-cinema projector) machines.
Ideally, you need a projector with either a three-chip DLP array or a
single-chip, Bayer-masked imaging device. You will also need to ensure
that the projector is connected to the BD player digitally (i.e. by HDMI
or SDI) and that its output is progressive, not interlaced.

No bright
ideas on glasses, but a brief Google search reveals loads of places
selling analglyphic glasses for 50c-$1 a piece.

I would suggest
experimenting with a 3D disc in your lecture theatre before programming
a class screening, to see how it looks. Your eyes will very quickly tell
you if there is any problem. If there is, I'd suggest checking your
installation against the pointers above. The problem could be something
simple and cheap to fix, e.g. the BD player is connected to the
projector by a composite video lead and is downscaling the video to 480i
(you'd be amazed how often I've seen this done), but it might be that
you have a single chip DLP with filter wheel projector (e.g. the Sanyo
PDG-DHT100L, which is a very popular model for larger lecture theatres
and high end home cinema setups, because it offers true, native 1080p
and 6,500 lumens of output for less than $20k, and very low lamp costs
per hour to boot), which are fundamentally not going to work with 3D
because of the motion blur caused by the rotation of the
wheel.
