From: Mattias Frey <[email protected]> Dear colleagues, I am pleased to announce the launch of the Arts Criticism MA at the University of Kent. This unique programme allows students to study the history, theory and practice of film criticism, theatre criticism or visual arts criticism—or to sample all three. In an age where Twitter and the blogosphere are altering the way we look and film and other arts, this programme empowers students to develop skills in critical writing and meet the demands of today’s rapidly changing publishing models. Besides academic study of criticism as a form, activity, and institution, students review events and festivals locally, in London and beyond. This new one-year MA programme, to begin in September 2013, is the logical extension of the activities of the Cultural Criticism Research Group within Kent’s Centre for the Interdisciplinary Study of Film and the Moving Image. Recent guest lecturers and speakers have included Jonathan Rosenbaum, Jonathan Romney, Sophie Mayer, Chris Darke and Michael Temple. I would appreciate members passing on this message to students who might be interested; applications are currently being accepted to become a member of the inaugural cohort.
