Dear list members,

Shane Blacks Iron Man 3 is currently released in China in a different version that it is in the US/Europe. Executives added an extra four minutes with Chinese actors and locations to charm Chinese audiences, investors and censors).

I want to look in to (the history of) the phenomenon of releasing multiple versions of the same film to tailor it for different audiences. I am familiar with multiple language films from the early sound era, but there must be other instances of this phenomenon. Do people on the list have interesting examples of such films or can anyone direct me to studies on this topic?

Many thanks.
