MODERATOR'S NOTE:  THIS POST HAS HAS AN UNUSUALLY LONG PATH TO THE LIST; IT
CAME AS I WAS PICKING UP THE LIST THIS TIME AND THROUGH MY OWN INATTENTION,
IT SLIPPED BEHIND A BUNCH OF OTHER POSTS AND I DIDN'T REDISCOVER IT UNTIL
LATER.  BECAUSE IT POSED THE QUESTIONS IT DID, I SENT IT TO THE INITIAL
POSTER WITH AN APOLOGY AND COPY TO MICHAEL.  HE HAS SINCE ASKED THAT IT
COME TO THE REST OF THE LIST, SO HERE IT IS, WITH MY MORE PUBLIC APOLOGIES
FOR LETTING IT SLIP AWAY FOR SEVERAL DAYS THE FIRST TIME.

I realize this CFP did not originate from the list, but I am curious about
2 things regarding its text.

1. What are "classroom ready original essays"?

2. It is limited to "scholars with PhDs". Is this a trend to note or to be
wary of?
