H-Film Query

Dear All,

I have a question for members of this group which I hope some of you =
might be able to answer. I am looking for films that were produced at a =
time of major political and ideological transformations (e.g. regime =
changes, revolutions, uprisings). The most clear-cut example that I can =
think of is the East German film 'The Architects' (dir. Peter Kahane, =
1989) which began production only weeks before the fall of the Berlin =
Wall in November 1989. The film addresses the impending end of the =
regime through a complex series of metaphors and symbols to avoid =
censorship. Does anyone know of similar cases where cinematic production =
is seemingly part of a major political transformation?

I should add that I am not so much interested in a revolutionary cinema =
after the fact such as Mikhail Kalatozov's 'I am Cuba' (1964) =
representing the Cuban Revolution 1953-1959. Nor am I referring to a =
self-consciously anti-capitalist and ant-colonialist 'Third Cinema'. =
Instead, I am curious about instances where cinema is either 'caught up' =
in quickly changing political circumstances, or where cinema plays an =
active role in the dismantling of political structures. Any feedback or =
information would be much appreciated.
