There she is. Just a few steps away... Looking gorgeous, laughing and chatting away with her friends, unaware that a person is waiting around with his heart beating wildly ... unable to walk the few steps to reach her. Yet, you so desperately want to talk to her.
Are you tapping your head to find at least one sensible reason to approach her?

A SENIOR SCHOOL STUDENT:
There is a girl in your class and every time you see her. Your heart skips a beat. How do you befriend her to begin with?
If she has been absent on a particular day offer to help her out.
Enter into a common discussion with her like movies, books, the latest event in town, the TV program she views, preparation for the board exam, career planning etc.
DON'T seem to be overanxious to please her (through you may want to desperately).
Once you have gained her confidence you'll can exchange phone numbers.
DON'T plague her with phone calls or blank calls.
Remember always stay within you limits. DON'T be too 'pushy' with a girl. She'll run away!
Have fun .. gain a good friend. You both are too young for a commitment.
STUDENT OF ANOTHER COLLEGE:
You generally meet students of other colleges at Inter College Competitions or during the College fests. Those are great opportunities to interact between students of other colleges.
a) Inter College Competitions:
Generally those who are participating attend these events. Here you are already able to gauge 'Her' area of interest (at least one to being with) take the cue from there and approach her intelligently.
If she has participated with a dance or a song group you can always say - "Congratulations! I think your group was great ... let me introduce myself. I am Pankaj from XYZ College".
If she was in the quiz and her team had won then you should have no problem. Just go and congratulate her. If not you can always say - "Hi! I'm Amit from XYZ College. We were desperately wanting your team to bag the second place"
GIRL: " Why second?"
BOY: "Of course we were supporting our college to bag the first place.
How about you'll? What's the next event anyway?
GIRL: "There's a short break now"
BOY: "Why don't we all go down to the Canteen and chill ourselves with a C D?"
You can take a couple of your friends and the girl's partner also and treat them to cold drinks, you've surely made a great headway!
b) College Festivals:
This is fun time for college goers. It is an informal atmosphere and the right time to introduce yourself.
It's easy to get an "INTRO" through a common acquaintance at this time.
Introduce yourself casually to one of the students of her group. This will give you access to striking a friendship with her... romance can follow!
'Eye Contact" would be also a very effective communication mode for you at this time.
After the 'Fest' is over it generally gets quite late in the night. You may offer to drop her back home. Of course she has to trust you first.
AT A DISCOTHEQUE:
There are a few points to keep in mind.
Don't approach a girl who has come with her boy friend.
Approach only those girls who have come either single, with another girl, with her brother, her family ... get the picture?
Go up to her and ask her politely
- " I'm Nitin. Do you mind having this dance with me?" (CASUAL).
OR
- " I'm Nitin. May I have the pleasure of a dance with you?" (FORMAL).
DON'T get drunk or tipsy at the discotheque - shell never give you a chance again!
Be courteous and offer her something to quench her Thirst after the dance.
Don't get into a brawl with any guy at the discotheque. She'll not think you are a macho but uncouth.
SOME GENERAL TIPS:
If you want to approach any girl don't do it the day you're looking a terrible macs. You've wearing your worst T-shirt, unshaven face, sticky heir, how's slippery on your feet or sweaty after a workout.
At the first meeting the appearance is very important. Be well dressed (trendy, elegant or casual as the situation may be).
Looks tidy and smell great!
Avoid wearing shabby footwear.
Be polite and courteous while talking to her.
Don't be a big bore. Just relax ... and spice in your conversation with a bit if humour
