Open auditions for The Women of Lockerbie

Saturday, November 17, 2018, Noon =96 3 PM
at the Station Theatre (223 N. Broadway, Urbana)

Based on a true story=85
After the explosion of Pan Am flight 103, the women of Lockerbie, Scotland =
set up a laundry project to wash the 11,000 articles of clothing belonging =
to the victims that were found in the plane=92s wreckage. Once the clothes =
were washed, the women packed and shipped them to the victims=92 families a=
round the world.

STYLE
The play is written and is intended to be performed in the style of a Greek=
 tragedy.

PLACE
The hills of Lockerbie, Scotland.

TIME
December 21, 1995, the seventh anniversary of the tragedy. Night of the win=
ter solstice.

CHARACTERS

  *   MADELINE LIVINGSTON, a suburban housewife from New Jersey. Her 20-yea=
r-old son, Adam, was killed in the Pan Am 103 explosion over Lockerbie, Sco=
tland. Age 40-55.
  *   BILL LIVINGSTON, husband of Madeline, father of Adam. Age 40-55.
  *   OLIVE ALLISON, an older woman, from Lockerbie. Leader of the laundry =
project.
  *   WOMAN 1 (Chorus), from Lockerbie, age unspecified.
  *   WOMAN 2 (Chorus), from Lockerbie, age unspecified.
  *   HATTIE, a cleaning woman, also from Lockerbie, age unspecified.
  *   MR. JONES, American government representative in charge of the wareho=
use storing the remains of the Pan Am 103 crash. Age 30s to 60s.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Rehearsals will begin November 27 and continue through December and January=
, with breaks for holidays.
Performance dates are:

  *   Thursday, January 17=96Sunday, January 20;
  *   Wednesday, January 23=96Sunday, January 27 (Sunday, Jan. 27 is a mati=
nee performance);
  *   Wednesday, January 30=96Saturday, February 2.

Actors must be available for all performance dates as well as technical and=
 dress rehearsals January 8-16.

Auditions will consist of readings from sides. Preparation appreciated, but=
 not necessary.
