  BUFFY BAFFLED AFTER OVERCOMING FLYING FEARS 







SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR is trying to figure out how she overcame her
paralysing fear of flying - because then she could advise other stars who
are grounded by their mile-high phobia.

The former BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER star used to be terrified of flying
after failing to comprehend how such a heavy metal object could stay in the
sky for long periods, but now she loves aeroplane life.

She says, "About six years ago I was not into airplanes. I don't know how I
got over it. When I was younger I used to love to fly. Then one day it all
clicked and I thought, 'How is this thing in the sky?'

"I think it's that knowledge when you get older when you realise what you
can control and what you can't control. Obviously we all know that
aeroplanes are about giving up control.

"I think one day common sense prevailed. Especially in Los Angeles, the odds
are much better than something worse is going to happen to me on the 405
freeway on the way to the airport than in an actual plane.

"I didn't go to a hypnotist or anything like that. I just got used to flying
"
