Kitty Kong Fund for Pets of Katrina Victims

The Whedonverse Project's resident feline "Angel" aka "Kitty Kong"
would like fans to help raise funds in support of pets in need of
assistance due to hurricane Katrina.

After recently sustaining an injury, which required hospitalization
and time away from home, Kitty Kong wanted to do something for pets
who are frightened and missing their owners after hurricane Katrina.

On TV, Kitty Kong saw the outpouring of help from humane societies,
rescue groups, and other animal advocate organizations and she found
it heartwarming in the aftermath of this tragedy. You and I can also
help, by participating in the Kitty Kong Fund for Pets of Katrina
Victims or by donating directly to one or more of the following
groups:

Humane Society of the United States Disaster Relief Fund: The HSUS
has mounted a massive relief effort in association with other
agencies.

Best Friends Animal Society: (Affiliated with Best Friends Animal
Sanctuary) This large national group has played a huge role on the
scene, and has been responsible for the rescue of hundreds of animals
in the aftermath of Katrina.

ASPCA: The ASPCA Disaster Relief fund helps with efforts during
emergencies, such as Hurricane Katrina. Thus far, the ASPCA has
contributed $145,000 to humane societies and other groups in the
disaster area, and has pledged an additional $250,000 to the LA
SPCA's rebuilding fund.

Noah's Wish: Noah's Wish is a non-profit organization located in
California, organized specifically to give assistance for animal
victims of disasters in the U.S. They have set up a shelter in
cooperation with theSlidell LA Animal Control, and currently have 269
animals under their care.

North Shore Animal League America: Based in New York, but national in
scope, the NSALA's mobile unit was used as a triage unit in the
Mississippi staging area for the first animals rescued from Katrina's
ravages. They are coordinating with both local rescue and national
groups to assist injured and displaced animals in the hurricane's
path.

A bouquet of flowers will be sent to Joss Whedon, via his talent
agent, notifying him of the donation's to the Humane Society of the
United States via the Whedonverse Project's Kitty Kong Fund.
