But Willow wasn't always such a great friend.  She was immature and often had questionable judgment, despite her high intelligence.  She played the child in all her relationships -- with Buffy, with Tara, with OZ, with Giles, and even with Dawn at some points ( I think the episode is "Smashed" ?).
