The first time I watched Buffy Ill never forget it. Of course I saw the
movie before anything.
The reason I started watching was because of my 1st episode.
I had been in a strict religion which restricted television watching to
certain kinds of programming for years while Buffy was starting in the late 90's
and early 2000's, so I didn't start up with Buffy when it came out. I dropped
out and got out of that religion eventually, and had heard many things about
Buffy good and bad, the bad mostly was from Christians, I still considered
myself at that time to be a conservative Christian (I think the year was 2002
maybe, the 6th season was playing, the year before the last 7th season), and
still wasn't interested in Buffy, however my Mom wanted to watch Cops on FX on
cable and the last 20 minutes of Buffy was still on, Cops was coming on
right after that so I said what the heck Ill watch the last 20 minutes.
It was a reruns, they playing all reruns on FX, it was the 3rd season last
episode, the Mayors ascension, I remember being very very impressed. The reason
was because of all the negative attention that Christians had brought up
about Buffy glorifying the Slayer as the end all and answer to everything, the
program had the Slayer with the whole school involved in fighting .That was
impressive to see angel and Xander and her scoobies and the people who helped
her and the whole school taking out after the vampires after all that negative
business I had heard to me was very impressive and I really liked the
smartness of the show, Buffy getting the Mayors attention by taunting him into
chasing her into the school and blowing the school up, that was very intelligent I
thought.
Then I just started glancing and watching it now and then picking up on it
and eventually got addicted.
