new Twin Peaks fan

Hi everyone. I just joined the group, and I'm just now getting into 
Twin Peaks after having seen much of David Lynch's other work. So far 
I've watched the pilot (the one with the extended ending) and the 
first episode.

I'm definitely not looking for spoilers, so don't give me any, but I 
have some questions for those of you who have seen the entire series.

1. As I said before, I watched the version of the pilot that has the 
extra footage at the end. Is my having seen that going to ruin any 
aspect of watching the series? Which scenes, exactly, were not 
included when the pilot aired on TV?

2. It's looking like Season 2 won't be released on DVD in the U.S. 
anytime soon. I've heard the second season isn't nearly as good as 
the first, and I'm wondering whether I'd truly be diminishing my Twin 
Peaks experience if I were to watch Fire Walk With Me after finishing 
the first season. I have a feeling I'm not going to want to wait on 
Season 2 to go ahead and watch the movie.

I can't stress enough that I don't want any spoilers. I'm just trying 
to experience the world of Twin Peaks as best I can.
