I'm sure this is the sort of thing that's been discussed before, but
I can't help but bring it up. I think it's a terrible injustice that
so much of David Lynch's work is not readily available in the United
States. I know there are lots of legal issues that are to blame for
certain things being out of circulation, but look at this list:

-- Despite the first season of Twin Peaks being released on DVD, the
pilot and second season have yet to surface. There have been rumors
saying they will AND will not be released next year, but no one seems
to know for sure.

-- Lynch's two other TV series, Hotel Room and On the Air, are out of
print. Granted, both were short lived and didn't garner nearly as
much success as Twin Peaks, but certainly there's a market for them
among hardcore Lynch fans. After all, I know that at least Hotel Room
was officially released on VHS years ago.

-- Industrial Symphony No. 1 is out of print. It used to be available
on VHS as well.

-- Eraserhead, a cult classic cherished by many a movie fan, is only
available through Lynch's site – and at a ridiculously high price,
probably because Lynch had to get them printed himself in relatively
limited quantities. I KNOW there's a market for a proper DVD release
for this film.

Lynch is a highly revered director and certainly has been a creative
pioneer in American cinema. It's a little hard to swallow that the
companies that own the rights to his out-of-print work would just let
it go by the wayside.

What do you guys think?

Bill

PS – I'm part way through watching the Twin Peaks series for the
first time, and I'm really loving it – no big surprise there!
