Re: creamed corn

Wow, a question!  I was thinking that this group had suddenly died 
with the onset of spring.  I hope that means everybody's out enjoying 
themselves.

This subject was brought up before the chatter suddenly died.  I 
don't think there is any deep meaning to the creamed corn.  Somehow, 
by intellectual nature, I think people get stuck on the notion that 
all art is intended to have some deep meaning.  But, Lynch is a 
stylist, and a certainly a modern artist as well.  Lynch himself has 
said he often does things for the response they elicit.

Surely, you remember being force fed creamed corn as a child.  You 
probably remember how awful that experience was.  You probably 
remember asking yourself how this was was considered food.  Why we 
are force fed creamed corn is another discussion altogether.  But, if 
watching those scenes made you cringe at the sight of creamed corn, 
I'd say David got the response he wanted.  Not everything he does is 
that simplistic, but it's not beneath him.

Sorry if this this is kinda long and rambling, but it's been quiet 
around here last few weeks.  I felt the need to spout off a little.
