Thanks for that! It's always nice to know what happens.  And I believe
there is much to learn from that story, even for those of us who have
never provided a great public service like gmane.

Just one minor nit: Gnus commplained about the certificate name for
news.gmane.io.  You should probably update that.  But I guess that's
something you have to do with the next renewal anyway, unless you can
regain control of the domain name?
