Some mailing lists require subscription to send to the list. Others put
emails from non-subscribers in a manually handled moderation queue. Your
email is likely in such a queue:

  "Please subscribe instead of just sending mails to the lists – we tend
   to forget about the moderation queue for unsubscribed mails and they
   might rot there for some time."

Usually you can subscribe to a mailing list and turn off delivery
(mainly meant for vacation and situations like that, but very useful
when using Gmane as well).
