The gmane.org domain name is up for expiry again on Feb 17 2021; try again this year? I'm thinking perhaps we could petition whoever administers the sale to give the previous owner precedence as gmane.org continues to be an important piece of public Internet infrastructure; but I have no idea from the registration record or the linked web pages who is actually in possession of the domain and/or in charge of the renewal process. NameSilo has a "request to buy this domain" link but this goes to what appears to be a third party who wants some money up front; not a great deal of money, but still. Thanks for reviving Gmane! I only discovered now. 8-( Olly Betts <[email protected]> writes: > On 2020-02-25, Lars Ingebrigtsen <[email protected]> wrote: >> There's been some further developments: >> >> http://lars.ingebrigtsen.no/2020/02/25/the-fate-of-gmane-org/ > > I'd imagine gmane.org still scores highly on the sort of things SEO > people crave - I checked one of the sites that claim to measure > these things (which I won't glorify with the oxygen of publicity) > and that suggests gmane.org has nearly 5 million incoming links > from over 13 thousand domains.
