That's exactly what mailing lists also do¹.

You send an email til whatever-list@somedomain and the server for that
mailing list sends a copy to everybody who is subscribed to the mailing
list.

When you post an article to a newsgroup on Gmane, Gmane sends a copy of
that article to the corresponding mailing list,
whatever-list@somedomain, which then sends a copy to all the
subscribers.

Gmane is one of the subscribers, so when your post arrives as an email
from the mailing list to that specific subscribed Gmane email-address,
Gmane puts it in the newsgroup.

The problem with SPF/DKIM/DMARC is no different for mailing lists and
Gmane.

¹ The term "real mail faking my identity" is a little odd in my opinion -
  you're the one sending the article and Gmane is passing it along, just
  as a mailing list, mail server, or any other service passing what you
  type along.
