How to install Enchant for dummies?

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask, but I could not find a better place. I'm trying to install  Enchant (and one of it's backends, or all of them: it does not matter to me) so that I can use it in Lyx. 

Unfortunately I have no experience compiling programs. I use Windows Vista 32-bit. I tried the following: I installed Cygwin, downloaded enchant-1.6.0.tar.gz then I followed the instructions from here http://www.maximumpc.com/article/how-tos/how_compile_software_source_code.
But after the "make" command I got the message "No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop."

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any information.
