I've installed AbiWord 2.8.6 on russian localized Windows XP SP 2. Everything works fine, but the file association. More precisely, if I doubleclick on a file icon, it is opened only if path and filename contain solely basic ASCII letters. Files with non-ASCII letters (I've tried cyrillic and eastern european characters) in names or those placed in folders with such names won't open: new file is created instead. "Ill-named" files can be opened through menu, but doubleclicking would be useful too :-) This is a great problem for russian Windows users, 'cause they've localized not only menus and messages, but "My Documents" and "Desktop" folder names too, changing them to their russian counterparts, so no AbiWord-associated file in these two basic user folders can be opened by doubleclick. Is there a solution? or should I report a bug?
